Tracy Hickman coauthored the Dragonlance books so if one likes the Dragonlance books chances are they will enjoy Eventide.
Eventide provides a nice change of pace compared to many other fantasy novels.
Although personally typical sword and magic fantasy is normally preferable, Eventide’s collection of short stories in a comical medieval/renaissance/magical town is entertaining. There are no twists or turns in the storyline but it remains interesting by adding many side characters and distracting side plots. Fairies and dragons and magical wells are mentioned numerously. Also, the Dragon’s Bard (arguably the storyteller/main character) brings in a little more excitement to everyday occurrences so the town will not be destroyed by a vicious dragon.
It is a great read for somebody who wants to sit down and read in five to fifteen minute intervals. Or great for someone who is busy because the short stories are quick reads while still connecting to the overall plotline.

Eventide would most likely be engaging for youth and young adults from ages fifteen to about twenty-five while remaining mildly entertaining for the younger and older alike.
